Are We Reading Kindred Spirits?

Lorrie's Book Stats

Here are some my book stats to see if I'm a good (or REVERSE!) barometer for books you might love:

Still My Favorite Book of all Time: My Antonia by Willa Cather

Best Books I Read in 2017:  News of the World by Paulette Giles and Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry

Books I'm Reading Right NowThe Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Walking on Water By Madeleine L'Engle, Deep Work by Cal Newport, and Joy Write by Ralph Fletcher.

A Sampling of Books on my Current TBR (To Be Read) List: Tell Me More, This Must Be The Place, America's First Daughter, Sing Unburied Sing, The Dry, Born a Crime, Lots of Louise Penny...

A Book I Don't Like (and actually threw across the room when I finished): Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Bestseller that was MEH for MeMe Before You by JoJo Moyes

Most Recent Vacation Page-Turner: Still Life by Louise Penny

Most Epic Book of My Teen Years: Gone With the Wind

Favorite Bookish Podcast: What Should I Read Next, hosted by Anne Bogel

Last LIVE Book Talk I Attended: The Amazing Kelly Corrigan

Favorite Independent Book Store: {Pages} in Manhattan Beach, California

Favorite Author I Wish Was Still Alive: Amy Krouse Rosenthal.  Please read everything she wrote.

Most Embarrassing Reading Stat: I haven't read the entire Harry Potter Series.

Second Most Embarrassing Reading Stat:  Often, I read the first line of a book. Then, I flip to the back and read the last line (but never for mysteries...I do have some standards!).  I just love knowing how the author entered and exited his or her creation.

Lightning Round:  Prefer paper over kindle/ Read before bed every night/ Not a re-reader / Prefer character development over plot/ Can't do scary. Sorry, not sorry, Stephen King.

What are your responses? Email me.  I'd love to know.  Bookish folks love to talk about books!

Always writing (and reading),
