Contact Form & Newsletter
If you submit a contact form on the Contact page of this site, you must enter a name, email address, and a message. Once that form is submitted, the email address is kept in my email system, where I only use it to respond to your inquiry. The email address is kept in my email archives as a record of our communication, but I can remove it if you request. You can do this by simply replying to the email I send or by submitting another contact form asking me to remove your email from my system.
Names and email addresses submitted through contact forms are never used for marketing purposes, and they they are never shared with anyone.
The Fine Print
Articles on my site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, sharing buttons, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
I use SquareSpace's analytics to learn how many visitors come to my site and how they interact with it. This information is used by me to (hopefully) improve site content and navigation.
How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on my site, or have left comments, you can request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service provided by SquareSpace.
