Falling in Love with Revision and Editing

It’s Family of Writers season and I’m having a blast writing with families who are sharing their hearts and stories. Near the end of the course, everyone selects a piece to publish in an anthology that's shared at our culminating publishing party.

I've saved every anthology since 1998.  They are treasures.  THey are slices of family lives that never disappear, stories that become family legacies.

However, submitting a piece for the anthology means revision and editing.  And that's when the real work of writers begins.

I love that work. For me, it's all rainbows and unicorns.  I've been doing this writing thing for a while, and I'm comfortable with the challenge of refining my pieces for publication.

But for others, the process is like a tooth extraction served up with a big side of meltdowns—especially when it’s done at home with parents and not at school with a teacher.

No more, friends!

Check out this video created by yours truly.  I call it Rainbows and Unicorns, Revision and Editing, Oh My! You'll come to love revision and editing as much as I do.  Enjoy the process.  Taste the writing rainbow. Become a unicorn and fly with your awesome words!

Always writing, revising and editing, oh MY!
